Visual Starting Point
I really enjoyed the physical shape that my 3D manifestation of my project title became using the idea of map contours, this felt like a great starting point for my animation.

Conceptual Starting Point
One of the main underlying themes of my Mapping project was that of places disappearing due to climate change and human interference. It felt logical to create a piece that would be an allegory for this.

Ideation
As well as looking at alternative ideas for my animation , I took some time to explore the visual I was using, although I was very keen to use the same aesthetic I had for my 3D print . Many of the fonts I looked at that had more context rooted in mapping than Blenny Black, the font I used, many were either too thin, to intricate and in my opinion not striking enough. There was also a need for them to be blocky and able to overlap enough for there to be substance to them to create the body of the Island. Frankfurter was my favourite of all the others, but I was very happy with Blenny and nothing else worked or excited me enough to change.

Progression of my User Flow
While seemingly quite a simple transaction: Move mouse - something happens, Stop moving mouse - event returns to original state. There was actually quite a lot more to the users experience of my interactive animation. Here is the progress of my user flow:

Progress of my animation

1. Early stages in Processing
Imported an image!

Imported all layers into processing but as 1 - yet to import multiple images and layer in correct order and placement.
Fades but as one and from the top.
Ideas to move the project forward
2. Decided to create movie in Animate to then import back into Processing.

Once using Animate decided that it was actually easier to complete the full project there.

3. First go as designed originally.
Successful, in that it looked and behaved as designed.
